Taranaki Junior Golfing Society
Our mission: To promote golf as a sport amongst boys and girls of all ages and abilities throughout the province.
Who we are: Member societies are independent of the Mens and Womens Golf Associations and through the dedication of parents, golfers and supporters are committed to providing an early pathway of encouragement, opportunity and social skills to both boys and girls taking up the game.
What we do: Each year the society sets out a programme of events that are aimed at Junior Golfers from the beginner to the more advanced player. These events feature 6,9 and 18 hole competitions and are played from Waverley in the south to Urenui in the north. Inter provincial fixtures also feature as each year we play our neighbours Waikato and Manawatu/Wanganui in two separate events. There is very strong rivalry between us and the competition between the three societies is quite intense.
For a nominal subscription juniors are encouraged to join the Society for which they receive a copy of the “Swing” newsletter every two months and an opportunity to play in the inter society events above plus to trial for the Booth Shield.
On producing your membership card juniors can play in Society run events at a cheaper rate.
